Using Mocha alongside your Google Business Profile

Mocha complements your Google Business Profile rather than replacing it. After each review you can invite people to review you on Google as well, and you can bring existing Google reviews into your widgets.

TL;DR in 5 steps

  1. In your Business Profile, open “Get more reviews” and copy the review link.
  2. In Mocha, open the space and choose “Thank-you page” in the space navigation.
  3. Switch on “Offer a Google review” and paste the link.
  4. Adjust the “Button text” if you like, then save.
  5. Optionally import existing Google reviews under “Import”.

How Mocha and Google fit together

Mocha collects reviews with documented consent and shows them on your own website. Google reviews live in your Business Profile on Google Search and Google Maps. There are two places where the two meet:

  • Google button on the thank-you page (Pro plan): after submitting a review in Mocha, the person sees a button that opens your Google review form.
  • Import: Mocha copies some of your existing Google reviews into your space so they appear in your widgets. You can do that by hand on every plan; on the Pro plan Mocha also fetches once a day automatically.

Google describes these steps for a browser on a computer (Google help: Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews).

  1. Go to your Business Profile

Sign in with the Google account that manages your profile and go to your Business Profile, for example via business.google.com.

  2. Open Get more reviews

Select Read Reviews, then Get more reviews.

  3. Copy the link

Select Copy. You do not need the QR code in the same window for Mocha.

Offer a Google review on the thank-you page

The thank-you page appears after someone submits your Mocha form.

  1. Open the thank-you page settings

In the dashboard, open the space and choose Thank-you page under Form in the space navigation.

  2. Add the link

In the Another review section, switch on Offer a Google review and paste the link into Link to your Google review page. Mocha only accepts full addresses starting with https://.

  3. Check the text and save

If you leave Button text empty, the button reads “Would you also like to review us on Google?” (German spaces use the German version). You can enter up to 120 characters. Click Save changes.

The button opens your Google review form in a new tab. By then the review in Mocha has already been saved, and it is up to the person whether they also write one on Google.

Import Google reviews

  1. Open Import

Open the space and choose Import under Collect in the space navigation. You will find the Google Business Reviews card there.

  2. Search for your business

Enter the business name and town, for example “Smith Dental, Bristol”, and click Search. Mocha lists up to five matches with their address and average rating.

  3. Start the import

Select your business and click Import reviews from … (the button shows the business name).

Mocha then queries Google's interface and takes the reviews Google returns there for the business: at most five, and Google decides which ones. For each review Mocha stores the name, the profile photo (if there is one), the text, the star rating and the date, plus a link to the business on Google Maps.

Imported reviews are approved straight away and appear in your widgets without any further step. In widgets such as the review wall and the slider they carry the note “via Google”. Your space's name display setting applies to them as well. To stop showing one, open Testimonials and choose Reject or Delete in the row menu.

You can add further individual reviews on the same page with Manual import, choosing Google as the Source.

Using both together

Invitations and the QR code lead to your Mocha form. There, people leave a review with consent for your website, and the thank-you page then offers them the way to Google if they wish. One link covers both, so you do not have to send two separate requests.

Frequently asked questions

Can I show a Mocha widget in my Google Business Profile?

No. A Google Business Profile does not let you embed third-party widgets or scripts. Mocha widgets go on your own website. Mocha connects to Google through the Google button on the thank-you page and through the import.

Can I show the Google button only after good reviews?

No. Google does not allow businesses to selectively ask satisfied customers for reviews or to discourage negative ones. That is why Mocha shows the button after every review, whatever the star rating. There is no setting to change this.

How many Google reviews does the import bring in?

At most five per import: the ones Google returns through its interface for the business you selected. Google decides which ones those are. You can add further individual reviews yourself with Manual import on the same page.

Are new Google reviews added to Mocha automatically?

On the Pro plan, yes: once a day Mocha fetches what Google returns for your business and adds new reviews. On the free plan you import by hand. Google returns only a small selection per fetch, so new reviews appear once Google includes them in that selection. Mocha recognises reviews it has already imported, so running the import again does not add them a second time.

Do I need the Pro plan for the Google features?

In part. The thank-you page with the Google button and the daily automatic import are part of Pro (€19 per month, 14-day free trial). On the free plan the thank-you page is locked, while importing by hand is available on every plan.
