Choose how reviewers' names appear in public
For each space, you decide how much of a reviewer's name the public sees, so you publish only as much personal data as you need, in line with the GDPR idea of data minimisation. Only you see the full name in the dashboard.
The settings at a glance
This is how the name "Sabine Keller" appears with each setting:
| Setting | Shown in public | Photo and title / company |
|---|---|---|
| "Full name" | Sabine Keller | shown |
| "First name and initial" | Sabine K. | shown |
| "Initials only" | S. K. | not shown |
| "Anonymous" | Anonymous | not shown |
For the shortened forms, Mocha only uses the first and the last name and leaves out titles such as "Dr", "Prof" or "Mrs": "Dr Sabine Maria Keller" becomes "Sabine K." or "S. K.". "Full name" shows the name exactly as the reviewer entered it. If the space language is German, anonymous reviews appear as "Anonym".
"Title / Company" is the field of that name on the form. With "Initials only" and "Anonymous", Mocha leaves out the photo and title too, because a face or a job title can identify someone just as well as their name.
Change the setting
Open “Privacy”
Open the space and choose "Privacy" in the "Form" group.
Choose a setting and save
In the "Name display" section, pick one of the tiles. Each shows an example of how the name will look. Then click "Save". The preview on the right shows the form with the new setting.
New spaces start with "First name and initial". Spaces created before this setting existed keep showing full names until you choose otherwise.
Where the setting applies
Name display applies wherever reviews leave your dashboard: in all widgets, on the review wall, in embedded videos, in the CSV export, in the consent log and in the confirmation email to the reviewer ("Shown as"). Under "Testimonials" in the dashboard you always see the full name.
What reviewers can choose
On the form, reviewers can also tick "Don't show my name". Below it, the form shows how their name will appear. With the box ticked, the review appears as "Anonymous", without photo or title. The stricter choice always wins: your setting or the reviewer's wish.
In the review's details under "Testimonials" you then see a note that the reviewer asked not to show their name. If your space is set to "Anonymous", the form hides the checkbox, because no name appears anyway.
Which setting is right for your practice or firm is best discussed with your data protection officer.
