Hero quote

A first impression in one voice: the hero quote for your homepage

The hero quote puts one review large in a panel, with stars, name and, if you like, a small photo. It turns through up to eight reviews or always shows the one you pick.

What it does for you

The first impression belongs to your clients

Anyone who opens your homepage decides within seconds whether to stay. A large quote right below the heading, with five stars, name and job title, answers the unspoken question of whether you can be trusted. A tax firm might show the sentence of a founder who finally got rid of her receipts. The serif typeface Playfair Display gives the quote weight and sets it clearly above the surrounding text, without you having to design a graphic.

Rotating or fixed, whatever suits your page

If the panel should feel alive, choose “Rotating”: up to eight reviews take turns, with small dots and a soft crossfade. Under “Interval” you set five, eight or twelve seconds, and as soon as someone rests the pointer on the quote, the change pauses. Prefer one single statement that sums up your offer? Then “Fixed” shows exactly the review you pick under “Choose a review”, for example one from a patient about their first session.

Calmly set, even without a photo

A small photo above the quote appears only when the reviewer uploaded one; otherwise the panel stays clean, with no empty circle. The widget shows names the way you set them under “Privacy”, for instance as first name and initial. Reviews you imported from Google carry the note “via Google” with the Google G. Alignment left or centred, a maximum width of 480, 640 or 800 pixels and your appearance settings take a few clicks, and new reviews appear by themselves.

Embed code

This is what the code looks like. Copy your own code with all your settings in the dashboard under “Embed” > “Widget” and paste it where the reviews should appear.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add the hero quote to my website?

In the dashboard, open your space, go to “Embed” > “Widget” and pick “Hero quote” under “Choose a widget”. Set “Appearance” and “Options”, click “Copy code” and paste the code as an HTML block where the quote should appear, for instance right below the heading of your homepage. Guides for WordPress, Elementor, Wix and other platforms are in our help section.

What does the hero quote look like on mobile?

The quote adapts to the width of its panel and shrinks on narrow screens so that it fits completely. Long reviews show either the short version (on Pro, with the “Show short version” switch in the widget settings) or are cut off; “Read more” opens the full text. If someone has chosen “reduce motion” in their system settings, the quote does not change by itself.

Which review is shown, and how do I control it?

Under “Display” you choose “Rotating” or “Fixed”. Rotating turns through up to eight reviews with small dots and a soft crossfade; you switch “Autoplay” on or off, set the “Interval” to 5, 8 or 12 seconds, and the change pauses while the pointer is over the quote. With “Fixed”, the widget always shows the one review you pick under “Choose a review”.

How much does the hero quote cost?

The hero quote is included in the free plan, like every widget style, with up to 50 approved reviews and a small “Powered by Mocha” note. On Pro, at €19 a month with a 14-day free trial, the note goes, the number of reviews is unlimited and the quote uses your own accent colour. The “short version” is also a Pro feature.

What about GDPR, cookies and the typeface?

The hero quote sets no cookies. For the statistics in your dashboard, Mocha counts views and clicks without IP addresses. Mocha serves the serif typeface Playfair Display itself, so nothing is fetched from Google Fonts. The reviews come from the Mocha form, where every reviewer first agrees to your consent text; whether and how to mention the widget in your privacy policy is a question for your data protection adviser.
