Star badge

Your star rating at a glance: a review badge for every page

The star badge sums up your approved reviews in a single line: average rating and count. It takes up almost no space and fits into a header, a footer or next to a button.

What it does for you

Trust at a glance

Most visitors don't read reviews; they just check quickly whether other people were happy. The badge answers exactly that in one line: a star, the average to one decimal place and the number of reviews. Next to your “Book an appointment” button, below your phone number or in the footer of every page, it builds trust without taking the room of a whole review section. That way your good work shows even on pages where no other widget would fit.

Numbers that keep themselves current

A line like “4.9 stars from 37 reviews” typed into your page text goes out of date quickly and is hard to back up. The badge instead works it out on every load from the approved reviews Mocha shows. When a new review arrives or someone withdraws their consent, the average and total are right again shortly afterwards, without you changing anything. And if the reviews come from your Mocha form, each one has documented consent you can show in the dashboard.

Subtle or striking

Under “Options” you choose the “Badge style”: “Pill” as a rounded tag, “Card” with a little more room, or “Minimal” with no border or background, almost like a line of text. “Show stars” switches the star on or off, and under “Appearance” you choose a light or dark theme and the font size. The font comes from your website, and because the badge is shielded from your stylesheets, your layout stays intact even in a tight header.

Embed code

This is what the code looks like. Copy your own code with all your settings in the dashboard under “Embed” > “Widget” and paste it where the reviews should appear.

<script
  src="https://mocha.de/api/embed/your-space/widget.js"
  data-mode="badge"

Frequently asked questions

How do I add the star badge to my website?

In the dashboard, go to “Embed” > “Widget” and pick “Badge” under “Choose a widget”. Set the “Badge style” under “Options”, click “Copy code” and paste the code as HTML where the badge should appear, for example in the header or footer area of your website builder.

Which reviews count towards the average and the total?

The badge uses the approved reviews your widgets show: up to 50 on the free plan, all of them on Pro. The average is rounded to one decimal place. Rejected reviews don't count; whether you should tell visitors how your reviews are collected is a question for your legal adviser.

Does the badge work on mobile?

Yes. The badge is a single line high and fits narrow screens too. If it looks too large or too small, change the font size under “Appearance”.

How much does the star badge cost?

The badge is included in the free plan, like every widget style, with a small “Powered by Mocha” note underneath. Pro costs €19 a month with a 14-day free trial, counts all your reviews, shows the star in your own accent colour and removes the note.

What about GDPR?

The badge shows no names, only the average and the count. It sets no cookies, and for the statistics in your dashboard Mocha counts views without storing IP addresses. The application and database run on servers in Germany; whether to list the widget in your privacy policy is a question for your data protection adviser.
